Why are we so obsessed with fashion (in the plural deliberately, I do not think one can esservene)?
Fashions in a sense put us in contact with others. Although different from each other, following a "fashion" we are ready to continue with the other, we become like (at least on the surface). With some straining, we could say that fashion is a kind of "infra" Arendt, an intermediate space (land of everyone and no one at the same time) that connects with its diverse embodiments of the men.
But today we are witnessing a growing tendency to be real maniacs to follow a stereotype . At all costs. An example? "I am lean-o-o ergo they are beautiful." Being "sick" becomes a way to rise above the standard, to stand out.
What all this chasing an ideal of perfection has brought a great sense of emptiness thinly veiled, it seems obvious.
being equal - be different. We are at the extremes. These two invasive mode. But being human, be yourself, where does it go?!
argue that until the end ... In medio stat virtus.
